Conservative claims that they "opposed the present Residents' Association/Lib Dem coalition administration’s proposal to build over 5,000 houses on our Green Belt" is a completely inaccurate statement. The Council has not yet produced any specific proposals in relation to the Local Plan, nor has it yet proposed where the greatly increased housing numbers required by the government should be located.

  
The Strategic Options consulted on last year were part of the process required by the Conservative Government when developing the new Local Plan. The Elmbridge consultation was agreed without any opposition from Conservative councillors in December 2016.

  
Conservatives tell us that Elmbridge Council has ‘increased Council Tax’. In fact, all councils in Surrey, including the Conservative run councils, have increased taxes but, Elmbridge has delivered the lowest increases over the last two years.
