Thames Ditton & Weston Green Residents’ Association launches Save Our Buses Campaign.

On Saturday, 24 September, the Thames Ditton & Weston Green Residents’ Association launched a petition to protest against the proposed cuts to the 514, 515 and 458 bus services which will mean that Thames Ditton will have NO bus services after 1st January, 2017.

Thames Ditton Councillor, Tricia W. Bland said: “at the Farmers’ Market on Saturday, over 200 people signed the petition in under two hours”. “I’ve been inundated with calls from people, like the partially sighted lady, who will not be able to shop or carry on her life without the bus service to Kingston.”

Fellow Thames Ditton Councillor, Ruth Lyon said: “Everyone recognises the vital need to continue these essential bus services for the community, particularly the elderly and those with disabilities for whom there are no alternative forms of transport.”

Petitions to Surrey Council are available to sign in Thames Ditton shops and pubs including The Ironing Board and The George & Dragon in the High Street and Jay News in Summer Road.
