The Post Office move from its current premises at 42 High Street, over the road to Simply Fresh at 31 High Street, has unfortunately been delayed. Originally planned for January 20th 2015, with an unbroken transition from one address to another, the opening of the new branch has now been postponed until February 3rd 2015. However, the Post Office is unable to continue trading from 42 High Street due to planned building work with the result that Thames Ditton will be without a Post Office for almost two weeks.

According to Post Office Ltd, responsible for the Post Office move:  “We are working hard to get the new branch up and running as soon as possible but this is unlikely to be before 3 February. Apologies for the late notice of this. Customers in Thames Ditton can use any other Post Office and the nearest ones are Hinchley Wood (1.2 miles) or Surbiton (1.5 miles). Once again apologies for the inconvenience this will cause local customers.”

Post Office Ltd have arranged for posters to be produced with information for customers regarding the alternative Post Offices and the opening date for the new branch. Meanwhile, I know everyone in Thames Ditton will join with me in thanking Avni and Harish, the sub postmasters at 42 High Street who are not planning to make the move to Simply Fresh, for their excellent service over the years and every good wish for their future.

Also, good luck to our Convenience Store/Newsagents at 42 High Street and its planned refurbishment and the Post Office in its new home at Simply Fresh.  When it opens on February 3rd!
