On Monday 21st September, the Thames Ditton Centre held its Open Day.  The centre is in Mercer Close, opposite the library and near the Thames Ditton Junior School.

Elmbridge's Mayor, Cllr Mrs Jan Fuller, officiated, supported by the Deputy Mayor, our very own Cllr Mrs Tannia Shipley, along with other Thames Ditton & Weston Green Residents' Association councillors, Tricia Bland, Ruth Lyon, Karen Randolph and Ruth Bruce.  The Mayor opened the new ‘Men in Sheds’ workshop (see photo), though it’s not just for men.  In addition, a new Games/Therapy room (previously a storage room) was also opened (see photo).  It's available for Bridge sessions, Art classes etc.

All this has all come about as a result of the hard work undertaken by volunteers (in particular Greggs the Bakers) and the Elmbridge Council team, especially Kim Chadwick and Melanie Bussicott.  Many thanks to them all.

The Thames Ditton Day Centre (open Mondays and Thursdays) offers a wide variety of different activities, including:

  • Art and Craft Classes (Thursday afternoons)
  • Regular Entertainment Programme, Quizzes, Bingo and Gentle Keep Fit.
  • Outings and events arranged throughout the year from cream teas to river trips
  • Bridge on Monday afternoons:- £1.00 per table refreshments on offer
