Does anyone know when the plans for the next financial year will be listed?
Currently they are still only listing works till the end of March.

I think they have still been changing them (I guess the budget now has to take care of urgent nrepairs caused by the rainfall and floods).

A few weeks ago I asked Peter Hickman to make the list of TD & WG roads available as soon as they have a final one.

Tory surrey councillors rack up £95,000 in expenses (on top of the massive 15% pay rise they have awarded themselves, while civil servants' pay is frozen, and others receive increases of 1% - 2%).  

Yet they can't maintain our roads, nor sort out the disgraceful train service (albeit 'operated' by Southworst - but their 'contract' should have been transferred ages ago to an operator who is capable of running the trains properly).

Why do intelligent Surrey residents continue to vote for these people ?

Emberman - I note all your complaints about the councillors but what solutions are you providing. I suggest if you can come with a revenue scheme, they should listen. Firstly you should look to look to utilise the car-parks and introduce yellow lines (parking tickets)

Surrey have circulated a mailshot to announce resurfacing of High St (Fountain roundabout to Station Rd) and Station Road (High St to railway bridge).  The likely dates for Station Road are Weds 11 July for three days, and for High St are Monday 16 July for three nights.  This is out of term time.

It has taken a long time and a lot of effort in lobbying to get this necessary resurfacing on the schedule.  But no doubt there will be some village moaners who find the work inconvenient!

Okay, good news - hopefully they will not Tarmac the bumps unless they are looking to make smootheir or erase.

But whilst the flower show is on! 

The bumps are the cause of most of the degeneration and breakup of the road surfaces (look at road surface between Riverside Ave and up to the road about by Picton House - the worst of bits are around the bumps). They also do nothing to slow down traffic unless someone is driving a low suspension car. Parked cars do more to slow the traffic IMHO. 

Do we know if the pavements are also going to be resurfaced as part of the scheme?  The pavement along Station Road is in terrible condition.

Could you reconfirm those dates please? Haven't seen the mailshot, but 11/7 is a Friday and 16/7 is a Wednesday. Thanks

So dates are correct, but days are wrong?

I also downloaded the scheduled works for 2014/15 and nowhere is the part of the High Street from St Leonards Road/Picton House down to the Swan mentioned. I have been told on several occasions when reporting the seriously deteriorated road humps that this work would be included in this financial year.

Who cares, which days - the important thing is what are they intending to do?

Another mailshot from Surrey Highways this afternoon, indeed from the Communications manager (!), apologising for the mismatch of days and dates.  Confirms that the  dates are:

Station Rd  11 July for 3 days
High St  16 July for 3 nights

There will also, he adds, be some emergency drainage works on Station Rd commencing 25 June (tomorrow)  for 5 working days.  Road closure from Speer Rd to junction with High St.  Also some gulley-clearing operations in the High St starting 27 June for 1 night.  He adds apologies for the short notice, and advance thanks for our cooperation and patience.....

Comment: at least they seem to have remembered, just,  to do the drains before they resurface the roads....  I wonder whether pragmatic Peter prodded them?

I care, especially as I live on the High Street and park my car there whenever a space is free! ( as do numerous other residents ).

Thank you for confirming Admin, noticed the change in yellow notices yesterday on the High Street.

This is surely the golden opportunity to remove the humps.  

They are crumbling away, and to repair them would be to throw good money after bad.   Most of the damage to the road surface is on, or directly adjacent to, the humps. 

Flashing speed signs are cheaper and more effective as a safety measure than humps (which many larger vehicles ignore and speed through the village). Some drivers swerve dangerously in an effort to drive over the humps on one wheel.

Nor do speed signs cause expensive damage to the suspension of residents' vehicles.

I agree but we should move quickly - I suggest a beer/chat gathering in a pub this week or next

Just collected the car back from the garage from having the tracking reset as a result of the humps.  Is there any way of getting Surrey to remove them ?  It is a waste of money to resurface them as they are breaking up and in a very poor state of repair.  Many drivers ignore the humps and speed over them - flashing speed signs would be a much more effective safety measure.
