The consultation has now completed and a number of recommendations are now being taken forward with new parking controls, to be implemented in May/June 2015.

A new thread has been started that covers more detail.

Just comeback from North Kingston, I notice that there they have 1 hours free parking / residents parking bays in and around the Canbury Gardens area. Why can't the conservation area of the village have the same.

There seems to be a lot of office workers and shop owners who should be using Ashley Road car park not blocking residents or potential shoppers!

When do the first bays come into play anyhow, why wait an entire summer - maddness

I was more wondering if the cones were a test of sorts to see if lines would work ? I think they do, especially by the Manor House.

The cones I would suggest is a signal that lines are needed.

Perhaps someone in authority will comment, but as far as I am aware residents have no right to reserve a parking place outside their homes by placing cones there; and indeed it is worth asking how they come to be in possession of cones if these are official ones at all.

The issue of residents' parking vs commuter parking has been extensively debated over the past decade and more, and there are pros and cons. But the article to which you link implies that a place can be reserved outside a resident's home. I do not think that is exactly the case - usually households who have less than 2 spaces for off-street parking of their own are entitled to residents parking permits in such restricted areas, but have to take their chance about where exactly they park.

Cannot see that Thames Ditton is the same as Cobham, they have ten times more shops. Commuters to and from village needs to be addressed to be holistic

This datelined today 3 March is relevant: www.getsurrey.co.uk/news/surrey-news/new...gy-aims-free-8756970

"new parking strategy for Elmbridge"
Essence:
- "holistic" approach needed (?!)
- prioritising shoppers in High Streets and finding alternative solutions for all-day parkers
- Cobham and Weybridge first up
- next are Molesey and Dittons

The consultation output hasn't yet been communicated and I understand may take us into the summer before we know the outcome. Any potential changes that end up coming out of it will happen sometime on from there.

Elmbridge Parking Review 2014: TD & WG proposed restrictions

Out to public consultation from 31 Oct to 28 November are proposed extensions to parking restrictions in:

Thames Ditton High Street: three short stretches of restrictions Monday to Saturday 0800 - 1800 1 hour only, no return within one hour (designed to make space available for shoppers etc. on the same system used successfully by shops on Summer Road and at Winter's Bridge)

Riversdale Road: stretch of no waiting at any time on one side of the first stretch of the road from the Summer Road end

Click here to See the Thames Ditton PDF File - for details of the above

The Woodlands: short stretches of no waiting at any time and no waiting Monday-Friday 1100-1300

Ember Lane: bend with Chestnut Ave: short section of no waiting Monday-Friday 0800-0930 and 1430-1600; and on the other bend (with Imber Court) sections both sides of no waiting at any time.

Click here to see the Esher PDF File - for details of the above

(Cllr. Peter Hickman comments that the proposals for Woodend need to be challenged as the no parking is shown for the wrong side of the road!)

If you have comments or objections send them in writing to Elmbridge 2014 parking review, Parking Team, Rowan House, Merrow Lane, Guildford GU4 7BQ or complete SCC's online form at www.surveymonkey.com/s/3YYLKNL
